• A smartwatch is able to run apps written by 3rd parties at expense of battery life (usually max 2 days). Some fitbit devices do allow 3rd party development (Ionic or Versa) but with lots of limitations. But in general, depending on the model, you still get things like call/message notification.

• Its, only dedicated to track fitness related activity, like steps counts. Smart watch on the other hand can do pretty much everything as a phone as well as fitness tracker.
