Does the Fitbit Alta monitor sleep quality? If so, is it worth having that tracking? null

It monitors sleep. For me it has been insightful to see how many times I'm restless or awake during the night.

It does track sleep although In my experience it is not entirely accurate, but close enough for my needs. This is not a replacement for a sleep study but did help me validate the feeling that I did not sleep much.

The Fitbit Alta does monitor your sleep. It does it automatically but you can also prompt it to do so. It's pretty accurate and notes how many times you are restless and approximate sleep time from what I have seen over the past month of using it.

The device is not an accurate sleep monitor. I work retail with a rotating random schedule. The device generates a sleep algorithm based on your movements. My devices has yet to detect my sleep patterns appropriately. The device will often over sleep and you have to wait for it to wake up on its own. Say for example one night I slept 6.5 hours and was tossing most of the night. The device continued to sleep for about 9 hours. I tried every thing to wake it up. Nothing. I did a 6,000 step walk after I woke up. Tried to sync it to my phone. Still asleep. Half way on my way to work it woke up. I would advice not to use this as a sleep monitor.

Yes it will monitor sleep, and I feel it is very valuable information to have, my Dr. knows I don't sleep well and while this does not replace a sleep study, it is a convenient way to show him what my sleep pattern does look like.
