Alta can get wet, but shouldn't be worn in the shower or while swimming. It's not designed for prolonged exposure to water or fluctuations in heat, like extreme hot or cold. Not waterproof.

NO! This is water RESISTANT it is not water proof, you will damage it if it is submerged for a period of time.

You cannot get this wet. I have spashed water on it but would not attempt submerging in water. The warranty says to not get it wet as well. No waterproof ability as of now, but I'm sure it will come out eventually.

As it is not waterproof you cannot track swimming like you can with steps. What you can do, which is a great feature, is manually add in the amount of time you spent doing a specific activity such as swimming, and keep track of it that way. It will calculate calories burned and add it to your active minutes for the day.
