I would say the charge or charge 2. If you get the charge 2 its a bigger screen and I love mine!

Sorry I bought this as a raffle prize so I don't know for sure. However I do know all the fit bits update and sync with the ap on the phone. If they don't have a phone, then you have to get one that displays the steps at least. Otherwise they won't know how they are doing. Hope that helps a little.
