only syncs local, doesnt send info. out so no data usage i believe. If you are running it with other apps, then sync it nightly at home on wifi and you should be alright.

You can also set it up through wifi. You have to open the app to have it sync...so it doesn't use your data unless you want it to.

It uses bluetooth without using data. No problem to your shared plan.

The device syncs with your phone over bluetooth, and Garmin connect does not appear to use cellular (and is thus limited to one device for syncing). If you link your garminconnect account with myfitnesspal, myfitnesspal will use cellular data (I'm using about 3MB per day as a pretty active user), and of course, you can disable the app from using cellular data in your phone 'cellular' options… in which case, you'd sync with your computer rather than with your phone.

Not sure. It depends on how often you set it to sync. I think you would be fine.

I would say that you do not need to increase your plan. It syncs with your phone by Bluetooth. you can tell the app to only interface with the server when you choose so it can wait until you are on a wifi

It uses so little, it doesn't even register on my device as using data. By default, the device isn't syncing with the app and/or FitBit servers all the time.

I don't think that is going to be necessary. The Fitbit syncs over your phone via Bluetooth technology then the app sends that data over your connection to the Fitbit dashboard. This isn't a lot of data. If you are syncing on your computer using your phone as a hot spot then it would use Bluetooth dongle to connect to the Fitbit then update the webpage with minimum data transfer as well, or you could use standard wifi and not use any of your phone data plan.
