Yes it's most likely GPS if you're on your horse. Otherwise it's the movement of your wrist which makes it extremely inaccurate. You can be sitting at a desk just pushing papers and writing, typing, etc... and it'll count steps. Expect a 1 year shelf life on Ionic. Not sure about others. Refuse to ever buy one again.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I used to have the Versa prior to having my Ionic and it did the same thing when sitting on the riding lawnmower. I think it is because it is sensing the movement & thinks you are doing an activity to track. Is it telling you what type of activity it tracked or just recording the steps? If it’s a Fitbit that is tracking the activity you could either set it to not automatically sense activity (but then it will not automatically sense and log any walks or runs, etc. if you forget to push the button to track the activity) or just delete the activity from your app once it tracks it and it should remove the steps it recorded from that activity and update.
