Hi, SL! The depth of the laundry center on its is 31-1/2 inches. If you use the recommended 4-inch rigid dryer duct, we would recommend a minimum of 4 extra inches of clearance at the back. If your duct can go out from the dryer back and into the wall without turning, it is possible to get it closer, but it would depend on the duct and water hoses you use and where your connections are if you can get it within that 1/2 inch extra space. Typically, this would be a very tight squeeze and I would advise giving it more wiggle room than that. ~Ashton
