Hello Frigidaire Shopper! The air conditioner FGRC0844S1 is not designed to be installed into the top half of a window. Per installation it would need to be installed on the bottom half where more support can be provided to the air conditioner. We hope this information is helpful. –Thanks!-
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I recently installed a similar unit in my one bedroom over my garge in the top.of the doublehung window. I supported it by using 2 2"x2" posts set about 3" in from each corner that I cut to the pitch of the roof on the bottom. In any arrangement that you are going to put an ac unit in the top of a window support like this is needed as well as a tongued support that extended side to side across the window which the AC unit will pull back on at the top if you use it in vinyl windows. All in all not a recommended task unless you have some confidence and wood skills.
