Is this a quiet unit? null

Compared to older models yes, we don't have to raise the volume on the t.v.

Yes, it is very quiet. I have mine in the basement and frequently have to go to the basement to make sure it is running.

Unit is acceptable I set it on medium speed

I had my humidifier running in my Man Cave about 5 feet from where I sit and it wasn't excessively loud at all. It sounds like an oscillating fan on low while it was running.

This unit is quieter than many other brands that I've used in the past.

I use it on the low fan speed. It's a little louder than what I care for but you get used to it as background noise. The unit really works well though.

I have found it to be much quieter than the Dehumidifiers I have previously purchased from Sears, mainly Kenmores.
