My ten year old Gold Star 50 pint finally died and I went and I picked this one up. I really like it. Impressive fit and finish and NO rattles or buzzing.
I set it on 40% and it will run until the room gets down to 35%, then the compressor will cycle off and the fan will continue to run for 3 minutes to dry out the evaporator coil and then it shuts down. When the humidistat reads 45% it will start up again. My only issue with this is that within 5 minutes after shutting down the humidistat will start reading the moisture within the machine and do a false restart. Only to shut back down a few minutes later. The solution is to have a small fan blowing on the humidistat on low, (it's under the air filter, top left corner). My Gold Star needed a fan blowing on it as well. In the continuous operating mode the fan is not needed. When the unit is idle and there is any water in the tank the humidistat will eventually read 70%, even if the room is only 45% to 50%.
Burns a little over $30.00 a month in electricity if the compressor is always running.
Modest heat output. It is putting 530 watts of heat into the air.
On a rainy day it will keep up with 1400 sq. ft. with no support from the AC. The tank will fill every 20 hours if it's humid outside.
Much nicer than the outgoing model (FAD 504 DWD). On this one the air flow is much more horizontal than vertical so I can't point the dehumidified stream of air where I need it to go. And they added a locking tab to the water bucket handle so it won't rattle.
I have it outside my bedroom door with the fan on medium. With the exhaust pointed away from the bedroom. I can sleep with it running. A bit too loud on high though. The pitch of the fan and the compressor is constant so it does not draw attention to itself. I find it to be a pleasant white noise. I live on a slab so I don't know how it will sound on a wood floor. On low it's quiet. On medium it does not bother me unless the exhaust is pointed at me and I am sitting close to it. I reserve high for daylight hours when I can put some space between me and it.
Once a month I put 2 tablespoons of clorox into the tank to keep slime from forming.
I also bought the 70 pint and eventually returned it. It was quite a bit noisier when the humidity was high. They look like identical units. And they sounded the same the first ten minutes after a start up. But the longer they ran the louder the 70 pint would get. The 70 pint pulls an enormous amount of water out of the air compared to the 50 pint.
I also added an external filter on top of the existing one. I see no easy way to open this up to clean the evaporator coil. I had to clean the Gold Stars coil once a year but it was poorly designed and let a lot of unfiltered air get inside the machine. The Frigidaire seems very tight by comparison.
If it lasts I will be delighted. Reading the reviews on Amazon for the latest generation of Chinese built dehumidifiers was discouraging. High failure rates for every brand.

This is a nice little unit. We use ours in our bathroom, because the fan doesn't get rid of the moisture fast enough. It isn't all that loud on the low setting. It is about as loud as a ceiling fan in a bathroom. The high setting is significantly louder though.
It has some nice features too like an auto shut off when the bucket is full and a timer. You can either set for how long you want the machine to run or you can set a timer to turn on the machine after a certain number of hours.
the 50qt will last about 2 days in the bathroom with about 6 hrs a day run-time. It is extremely easy to dump. the bucket simply slides out and there is a handle to carry it.

I'm a single guy living in a townhouse with all the gadgets a single guy can have. I've got computers, tablets, stereo, lots of stereo! And this dehumidifier is the best purchase I have ever made. Why? I hate moist, damp odors, and I hate insects. This unit works great! It pulled gallons of water out of the air right out of the box and has never stopped. It has cut the odors and insects that come into my basement far better than any air fresheners and insecticides. Easy setup. Easy water removal. Well built.

Amazed at how quickly the tank filled with water sucked from the air! I used this in a small apartment to reduce the humidity during summer. It worked very, very well. My Canary home security showed a significant drop in humidity and an increase in air quality. The air felt breathable, clearer and fresher. Unit is easy to move around as it has four wheels and a handle. Very sturdy unit. Seems to be well built and the design looks good. It runs quietly in my opinion. It's very easy to operate but be sure to read the manual to get the full benefits. One thing to note is that it replaces humid air with warm air. In a small space the air can get hot after about an hour or two of continuous usage at the highest setting. Overall this dehumidifier made the air much more comfortable. I would recommend this dehumidifier.

I haven't updated my old one in years, what I mistake that was...it's quiet (relatively speaking) and it works wonders in our basement. The new system for emptying out water makes it hassle free. It's aesthetically very clean and easy to use out of the box. It has a nice alert for letting you know when it is full as well.

...all of the humidity out of the air! Since installing this product in my basement I have seen a dramatic improvement in the humidity levels in my house. This is perfectly sized for ~1000 sq ft but I would recommend using the included attachment to connect a drain hose, the reservoir inside will fill up in a few hours when you first start using it.

This dehumidifier was recommended to me by a friend. She was right ! It's looks great, runs quietly and keeps the basement at the desired humidity. It has auto shut-off so it doesn't overflow and is easy to empty without making a mess.. And it's Energy-Star rated and is eligible for a rebate from my power company.

This dehumidifier works great. I am using it in a garage where I store some cars and it is keeping the humidity just where I want it. Quiet, and easy to use. I also have a larger dehumidifier of the same brand in my basement now for several years and it works like a charm. No problems.

After the 10 year old Kenmore gave up the ghost I checked the reviews and went with this Frigidaire. After 2 months it has proven to be a very worthy replacement. Pros: Quiet, easy setup, most importantly - keeps the basement DRY! No Cons yet.

Works and Relatively Quiet

This is a 2015 model, rated at 51 db at Frigidaire web site. It is relatively quiet. You do hear mostly the fan noise, but the low hum compressor noise is barely noticeable. Does the job in removing moisture. It does not shut off the first couple of days while it is drying the room, but does eventually shut off after humidity setting is reached. Note that the dried air comes out only from one side of the machine ( your right side if you are facing it). I prefer that compared with some
other models that direct the air straight up. The water container is smaller than older models, but about the same size as most other models in the market these days. Why have a 13 pint container when it can remove 50 pints a day? Not an issue if you use the hose drain. It can still last a day before getting full when used in a finished basement. Recent dehumidifiers do not last long anymore. My last 3 models, different brands, all only lasted 2-3 seasons. Get extended protection plan if you can.

This dehumidifier is extremely quiet and efficient. I use it in a very large upstairs room and it handles the space with ease. I plan on getting another for my garage.
