Hi C! Thank you for the inquiry. The water filter used in model FGHC2331PF, does in fact filter the water used for the water dispenser as well as the water that is used to make ice. In general, you should change the water filter every six months to ensure the highest possible water quality. Water Filter Status on the user interface prompts you to replace the filter after a standard amount of water (200 gallons/757 liters for PureSource UltraTM) has flowed through the system. If your refrigerator has not been used for a period of time (during moving for example), change the filter before reinstalling the refrigerator. We hope this information proves to be of assistance, we are also welcome to receiving any concerns or question you may have via this website’s Q&A forum. -Best Regards-
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes.. the water that you plumb into the back of the refrigerator passes through the filter before it can go to the water dispenser or the ice maker.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes, it does a good job.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Water filters don't clean water. They are made to filter out particles. The filter is for both ice cubes and output water from the dispenser.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would imagine as we were told to dump the first 'bucket' of ice as the 'filter' was "self-cleaning".. We did, and the ice and water has been GREAT!
