Purchasing and installing the Garmin Parking Mode Cable, part number 010-12530-03, would also be a good hard wire solution.

No, it comes with a 4ft and 1.5ft usb cable with a 12volt plug. Garmin sells the parking mode cable separately which will keep the camera in a low state of power and begin recording when it detects motion in front of the vehicle, or an impact.
