The installation is simple and can be done without a mechanic. You can use the suction cup mount to place the Garmin Drive device on the dashboard and use the power cable to power the unit.

You can install Garmin unit yourself. Directions show you how to connect suction cup. Plug unit into Car/van electric port. Be sure to place Garmin in a place easy to see, but not obstructing your view of the road. Also position excess cord away from steering wheel and gear shift lever.

You can affix the Garmin to your windshield without any difficulty whatsoever with the accessories included in the box. None of that is permanent, it is just a suction to your windshield and it works quite well. Keep in mind, that you cannot speak your directions into this device, (it needs to be typed—so you must be stopped) had I realized this when I purchased (and before I threw out all the packing in the box!) —I would’ve gotten the next better Garmin.
