It can be used in a semi. It does tell you the speed limit probably 75-80% of the time. It is supposed to be able to give you traffic updates, but I didn't use the feature. It may be able to give you height/ weight restrictions, I'd suggest looking at Garmin's website and see if they have a product that would be an even better match for than this one.
