GPS yes, it maps run etc, you turn it on when you hit run then choice is given indoor or outdoor, chose outdoor

You cannot bring up a map, you can view the run later once you upload the data through your mobile or PC. Some other brand only have assisted GPS which requires a mobile phone to be connected to capture locations while you run. The GPS features need to be turned on when you want to do your activity, it consumes more battery then.

Yes it would work like map my fitness, and yes you can bring up the map online and track all your activity through Garmin Connect. All you have to do is press the button to start it and it almost instantly finds a signal and your off and walking/running.
