A:AnswerHello rick,
Great question! We thank you for considering GE Appliances. You are greatly appreciated, and we'd be glad to help with this microwave oven. We first wanted to clarify that this is a countertop model, so we do not recommend placing it in a cabinet like a built-in model. The necessary clearance for this model is 3 inches on each side, 3 inches on the top, and 1 inch in the rear. We always suggest following the installation requirements because if they are modified any way other than what is stated, the product warranty is void.
We hope this information is helpful. If you have any more questions or concerns feel free to ask. We thank you for your time. Have a great day!

A:AnswerHi Angela! Thanks for your question! This microwave is approximately 17-5/16" wide with door closed. With door opened 90 degrees, there's an increase of about 0.3 inches so the overall width of the microwave is it approximately 17-1/2". When the door is fully opened, it adds approximately 3 inches to the unit width. We hope that this helps! Best wishes. -Michael@GEA
A:AnswerHi Lmv, thanks for your question! We're sorry to hear about this! Try taking a look at an article on our website titled "MICROWAVE - STARTING ON ITS OWN" to see if the information inside helps. All the best. -Michael@GEA
A:AnswerHey Mike. Congratulations on your new microwave! We're very sorry to hear you're having difficulties installing your turntable. We know how frustrating it must be to install a new microwave that you can't use yet and we're happy to help. The tray should have three notches in the middle bottom that fit in between the gear that rotates the tray. That is then supported by the ring around the outside. Because you are missing these notches, we suggest calling our Parts Team at 1-800-626-2002 so they can send you a new one. We appreciate your patience and we're happy to have you in the GEA family. We're wishing you the best! - Guy@GEA
A:AnswerHello LP - Thank you for the thoughtful question on this microwave. Model JES1072SHSS does not offer inverter technology when cooking. We apologize for the inconvenience. Keep in touch! - John@GEA
A:AnswerHi there, CG - Great question! We're finding that microwave JES1072SHSS is a countertop only model; it is not designed or approved for a built-in installation. A:AnswerHi Jo, thanks for your question! Sound is more subjective. A noise to one person may be loud while to another it's not loud enough or not as loud as the other perceives it. You are able to turn the beeper on this microwave on or off by pressing the SOUND pad. If you're in another room close by, you should be able to still hear the end beeper for this microwave. We hope that this helps! Stay safe. -Michael
A:AnswerHello, Nancy - This is such a great question! This microwave's dimensions are 10 3/16 H x 17 5/16 W x 12 3/4 D. Thanks so much for showing interest! -Mikayla

A:AnswerHi there, Marge - Great question! If the coating is actively flaking or paint is peeling anywhere inside the oven cavity (including under the turntable) discontinue the use of the microwave and replace it. The microwave is not repairable. Thanks for checking! -Mikayla
A:AnswerHi maomao, thanks for reaching out! This model is actually meant to only be installed on the countertop. We would not recommend attempting to build this unit into surrounding cabinetry. We have not tested or approved this unit for that style of installation. The recommended clearances for this unit are as follows: 3 inches on each side, 3 inches on the top, and 1 inch in the rear. We hope that this helps! Stay safe. -Michael
A:AnswerHi there, JMP - Great question! The main difference between these two units is that JEM3072SHSS can be mounted under a cabinet. Thanks for checking! -MikaylaGEA
A:AnswerHi tre - Thanks for viewing GE Model JES1072SHSS! These microwaves are intended for countertop use and need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. Allow 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. Take a look at the following link- MICROWAVE AIR CLEARANCE - COUNTERTOP ONLY MODELS: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=21668 - Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com! A:AnswerThis thread is great! I also thought I had this problem, but sure enough I was able to remove the plastic. It wasn’t obvious and I was afraid to make it worse until I read this thread. After removal all seems ok. Thanks!
