A: There’s a bumper on the back, top right of unit that keeps it a little away from a wall. So, with the unit pushed back to the wall as far as it allows, which is where it is placed while in use, the distance from the wall to the front edge is 12.75 inches. That’s with the door closed, of course.

Worst Ever!
When I first bought this, I loved it. It was the perfect size for my needs and I loves the stainless steel exterior. Worked great and looked great. About a year after purchase I started to notice little rust spots forming inside. Now the entire inside is full of rust and peeling paint. I have owned many microwaves over the years and have NEVER experienced a problem like this. Would definitely NOT recommend! (I did try contacting GE customer service, but it was outside the warranty window, so no help there!)

Perfect for small cabinet space
We needed a very small microwave to fit a space in the upper kitchen cabinet that housed our forty year old GE microwave The big issue was depth and this fit perfectly. Since the dedicated 20 microwave circuit is on the back wall there it’s a terrific replacement. Defrosts, melts butter, re-heats coffee. Timer and add 30 seconds buttons are great additions.
