  • QuestionIs there a replacement part for the microwave wave guard? Also how long before this has to be replaced on an average?

    • Answer Hi FACETS- The cardboard cover on the right top or side wall of the microwave interior is there by design. The cardboard (mica) covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity and should not be removed. The microwave should not be used for any function if this cardboard cover is not in place. If removed, it would require service to replace. This part is not sold separately. Also, it is not possible to determine the product failure rate, lifespan , life expectancy, or life cycle of an appliance, even an approximate age. There are many variables involved, like: frequency of use, type of use, location of appliance (ex. high humidity; near the ocean; etc.), care, and maintenance. Thanks for choosing GE! SUE@GEA

    • Answer Hi Sherry- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our GE Series model JES1145SHSS! The approximate dimensions are as follows: (HxWxD) 12 in x 20 5/16 in x 15 5/8 in. Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents (3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear).     • Answer The dimension from the back of the rear foot to the front of the front foot is 10 1/2 inches. The feet are 5/8 inch in diameter.

    • Answer Hi Lillian! Thanks for reaching out. Models with the timed popcorn function, such as your microwave, are pre-programmed at the factory for a specific time to cook the average package of microwave popcorn. The pre-program includes an option for regular and for lite. The regular function will cook slightly longer than lite. - If the popcorn is slightly overdone or undercooked, the cooking time can be adjusted up or down by twenty seconds. - Touch the Popcorn pad and then the "9" to add twenty seconds or touch the Popcorn pad and "1" to subtract twenty seconds. - For both types, the bag should be at least three ounces for proper operation of the popcorn pad. Do not use the popcorn pad if you are popping the smaller bag (1.75-ounce). Use the Time Cook function instead, and follow the instructions on the bag for selecting the correct time.     • Answer Hi saddle - Yes, Model JES1145SHS has an end-of-cycle signal. Also, Cooking Complete Reminder is a beep that occurs once every minute after the normal cooking cycle has ended. It is designed to remind you when the cooking time has completed. To terminate 'cooking complete reminder', touch Clear/Off or open the door.   • QuestionQ: Noise of turntable when microwave is on. I bought a GE microwave oven, Model #: JES1145SHSS, in May 2023. For the past one month, Turntable makes quite a sound when it's on, Is there some way to eliminate it? The warranty has expired in May itself.

    • Answer The motor shaft is rusting and having a hard time turning. That's what's making the noise. A band-aid fix is to put a drop or two of vegetable oil into the hole under the white triangular platter peg that you can lift out. It's only a matter of time until it gets so rusty that the motor will stop turning altogether. I tore mine down and removed the rust, but it's just going to be a repeating cycle until I finally get rid of the stupid thing. Hope this helps.
