A:AnswerI believe there is a fuse. You have to take off the front of the microwave. make sure you unpause the microwave and discharged the energy from the fuse before trying to touch it. I found information on YouTube
A:AnswerHi Joe - The mounting plate is exactly the size of the microwave, so the width is the overall width (29 7/8") and the height is the "rear" dimension height (16 1/2"). See Quick Specs at the following link for all product dimensions: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=340169_jvm3160rf_c3.pdf - Thanks for choosing GE! A:AnswerHi Herb - Model is JVM3160RFSS 29 7/8" wide. All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. We no longer offer a 36" wide over-the-range model. If you are replacing a 36" over-the-range microwave, many current 30" over-the-range microwaves offer an optional 36" filler kit to allow it to be installed in a 36" cut-out opening. If available, the filler kit will be listed in the product specifications. This model is not compatible with a 36" filler kit. GE® 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave Oven JVM6172SKSS is compatible with Optional 36" Side Filler Panel Kit JX36CSS (sold separately). Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com - Sue
A:AnswerIt is 30 " wide and fit in the space perfectly. It did require tearing down the old mounting bracket and putting in the new one (which I had hoped to not have to do). We are quite happy with it.

A:AnswerHi Haileyoo- We are sorry to hear your microwave is not heating and suggest to make sure the “Timer” function was not inadvertently used. Check to ensure the door is closed firmly. Close it firmly, but do not slam. This confirms the engagement of the door's safety mechanisms. Reset the microwave electronics by turning off power at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or so. For safety reasons, we offer no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to an internal high voltage capacitor (can hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged). Special equipment is generally needed to make a diagnosis. If the above suggestions do not solve the problem and the microwave still won't heat, we recommend contacting service. You can schedule an appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service online at GEAppliances.com/service or call 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737). Keep in touch! Sue

A:AnswerMy microwave has inset hinges on the left, so the door opens from the right side of the unit to the left. When the door is opened fully, it appears the door would extend past the left wall of the unit by approximately 1/4 of an inch. If you install your unit flush to the left side wall, it appears the unit's door would hit the wall by a quarter of an inch and not open fully. Hope this helps? My microwave is installed forward of the wall and therefore the door clears the wall.
A:AnswerHi Judy - We are sorry to hear of this unfortunate experience with your microwave. This is not the evaluation we would expect to hear. Please reach out to us at GEAppliances.com for review. Models JNM3163DJBB and JNM3163DJ1BB are the same. When the model is manufactured, the extra number is placed on the appliance rating plate and product registration card. This number is used to identify manufacturing specific data when the appliance is made. Should service or parts be needed, this is used as an identifier for the specific appliance. Keep in touch! Sue
A:AnswerHi Tony - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your microwave. If you have changed the charcoal filter and tried resetting the filter, or disconnected power to the microwave for 30 seconds, service will be needed. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.
For service, please schedule an appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service at GEAppliances.com/service or call 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737). Again, we are sorry for this experience. Keep in touch! Sue
A:AnswerHi Joe - We are sorry to hear your microwave is not heating and appreciate your loyalty! While the venting is the same, when replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. Also, if installed for recirculating (non-vent), Charcoal Filter JX81L is included. Check out the Installation Instructions online: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40675-4.PDF - Enjoy! Sue
A:AnswerHi John - The microwave can be easily converted to recirculating (non-vent). Recirculating Charcoal Filter JX81L is included. Since the microwave will be converted to recirculating and not vented to the outside, the air will be recirculated through the disposable charcoal filter that helps remove smoke and odors. The vent is located on top, just above the door. Check out the Installation Guide online: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40675-4.PDF - Thanks for choosing GE! Sue
A:AnswerIt has 2 lights towards the front. One on each side. They light up the center of the stove underneath perfectly. They have 2 settings, a high and a low or night light.
