A:AnswerWe replaced a Kenmore Elite that we purchased in June 2011 with this model. It is only about half an inch taller than the Kenmore. The mounting holes for the upper cabinet will not be the same so you'll be drilling more holes. Be careful mounting the paper template under the upper cabinet because the holes have to be spot on or you won't be able to mount it properly. Also, the rear bracket has different hook and hole positions so you won't be able to use the Kenmore bracket.

A:AnswerHi Len - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE! Some microwave models have a built-in 5-minute internal timer as a safety feature preventing the microwave from cooking without food inside, since doing so can cause the unit to overheat. If food is placed into the cavity before selecting a cooking sequence, opening and closing the door activates the switch, initiating the 5-minute internal timer. The door latch switch must be opened and closed before hitting “START,” which signals the unit that food has been placed inside. The "FOOD" or "Insert Food" message on the display means the microwave thinks food has not been added yet. To correct the issue, open and close the door again and press “START.” Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com - Sue
A:AnswerHi Corey - Models JVM3160RF2SS and JVM3160RFSS are the same. When the model is manufactured, the extra number (2) is placed on the appliance rating plate and product registration card. This number is used to identify manufacturing specific data when the appliance is made. Should service or parts be needed, this is used as an identifier for the specific appliance. Your new model will have a different number on the rating plate/registration card. We certainly appreciate your loyalty! Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com - Sue
A:AnswerHi skye - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE. The microwave control panel is not backlit, which means that the lettering on the keypads do not have lighting behind them.
