  • QuestionMy JVM6175DF1BB purchased in November 2015 is dead. I'd love to buy any GE black or black slate microwave that will fit right into the same bracket, holes, etc. Any ideas??

    Asked by Hungry11201.

    • Answer Hello there, we're so sorry to hear that your range is no longer working. This is never what we want to see so we can imagine your disappointment. With that said, we think you'll be pleased to know that all 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. We just suggest using the mounting bracket of your new microwave. With this said, we believe this would be a great replacement, but if you want to use the same mounting bracket we suggest purchasing the same microwave. We're wishing you the best and we appreciate your loyalty to us. - Guy@GEA

  • QuestionI have moisture in between the glass on the door of my microwave is this dangerous?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hello, it is normal to see some condensation between the door panels, unless the condensation does not dissipate within a reasonable amount of time. Additionally, moisture or steam on the cavity walls during microwave cooking is normal. All these characteristics are not dangerous. • QuestionWhat is the code in North Carolina for the minimum clearance between the Microwave over the smooth top stove? My current microwave is 17" over the smooth top stove.

    Asked by Michael5805.

    • Answer Hi Michael5805 - Per the Installation Guide, over- the- range models must be installed 66" from the floor to the bottom of the cabinet that the microwave attaches to. This can also be measured as 30" from the cooktop to the bottom of the cabinet it attaches to. We suggest to view page 7 of the Installation Guide at the following link- MOUNTING SPACE: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40765.pdf - Observe all governing codes and ordinances: http://www.ncdoi.com/OSFM/Engineering_and_Codes/Default.aspx?field1=State_Building_Codes_USER&user=State_Building_Codes - Thanks for choosing GE! • QuestionIs it normal for the vent fan to run while using the microwave? Even if we heat something up for 10 seconds, the vent fan runs and it's quite loud. That just doesn't seem normal to me.

    Asked by TimC.

    • Answer Hello TC, Thank you for reaching out to us about this amazing over the range microwave. This is a great question and we are more than happy to help with this. Microwaves have a fan where the internal components are located which will run continuously while the microwave is in operation to constantly circulate the air to cool the working parts. It is normal for the internal fan for the electronics to continue to run for a few seconds after the microwave cycle is complete, even if the door is opened. This fan does not circulate air in the cavity. There is also an exterior fan on over the range models such as this one. The fan will make noise similar to a vent hood. Note: This fan is controlled by a high/low/off switch but will automatically come on if the cooktop surface transfers significant heat to the microwave. The fan will not go off until the microwave thermostat reaches a lower temperature. These actions are both normal. We hope this information helps, feel free to reach out again with any other questions you may have. Have a great day!-Avery@GEA
