We are very sorry to hear of the issues you have experienced with seeing in your kitchen at night and apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused. While our microwave display panels are not backlit and do not illuminate, our over-the-range microwaves do have a cooktop light underneath that can be turned on. Press the Surface Light on your control panel to turn the surface light on or off. Your microwave's Surface Light has the option of Off, Bright, and a Night light option that would be helpful for you! We sincerely hope that this information helps. All the best! -Eliza@GEA
