Hi LJB - Yes, the over-the-range microwave ovens are designed for adaptation for the following three types of ventilation: 1. Outside Exhaust (Vertical – Delivered from factory in vertical position). 2. Outside Exhaust (Horizontal). 3. Recirculating (Non-vented ductless). Yes, it does have a changeable exhaust vent for I believe 3 different scenarios. Very easy to change also.

Yes to the outside exhaust-we hooked ours up to the outside exhaust (or the nice person from Best Buy who installed it for us did!) Not sure about the inside venting. GL
