A:AnswerFound this when I was looking to replace our microwave - "The National Kitchen and Bath Association recommends that the bottom of the microwave should be no higher than 54 inches above the floor, which would allow for 18 inches of clearance between the microwave and the typical cooktop height of 36 inches. Some manufacturers allow smaller clearances." Although the bottom of our microwave is exactly at 54", our glass-top stove sits slightly higher so the clearance is 17". Builder installed the original microwave at that clearance, and we have not had any problems.
A:AnswerHi, Good question! We appreciate you asking and we'd love to help. We found that this model does not have a programmable surface light. This means it must be turned on/off manually. Thanks for asking!

A:AnswerHi,
Good question! We thank you for choosing GE Appliances and we'd be happy to help with the reset filter button. This feature will typically light up to alert the owner that it's time to clean the grease filter or replace the charcoal filter. After replacing or cleaning the filter hold this button for 3 seconds. You can find more information in the link below:

A:AnswerHi there, My - Great question! We found a comparable model that we believe will make a great replacement. We suggest checking out microwave model JVM7195SKSS. Thanks so much for asking! -Mikayla@GEA
A:AnswerWe put same model in less than a month ago. Do not have loud screeching. If it sounds loud, then there is probably something wrong. Who installed? The flap on the exhaust vent may not be opening if it was not installed correctly. I can imagine that would make some noise.
A:AnswerHi Johnla, thanks for leaving a question! We would recommend taking a look at an article on our website titled "OVER-THE-RANGE MICROWAVE OVEN VENT SYSTEM DRAW" to see if the information inside helps. If the tips inside don't help, then a service appointment may be needed. We hope that this helps and that you're staying safe. -Michael@GEA
A:AnswerHi Pellzey, thanks for reaching out to us. We truly appreciate you choosing this over-the-range sensor microwave for your home! We are very sorry to hear of the issues you have experienced with seeing in your kitchen at night and apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused.
While our microwave display panels are not backlit and do not illuminate, our over-the-range microwaves do have a cooktop light underneath that can be turned on. A:AnswerOur upper cabinets are 14 inches tall and, with the microwave installed, we still have 15 and 1/2 inches between the bottom of the microwave and the stove. The brackets are attached to the cabinets above--not the back wall. A 2 and 1/2 inch hole was cut into the bottom of one of the cabinets so that the microwave could be plugged into an outliet that is inside the cabinet, on the backwall (a hole was cut out of the cabinet to get to the outlet).

A:AnswerHi Licata519, thanks so much for reaching out. We'd be happy to help. We found several models that we think you'll really like. You can search for the following to see if any of these microwaves strike your fancy: PVM9179SKSS, JVM6175YKFS, JVM6172SKSS, and JVM6175SKSS. Since you have a 36" opening, a filler kit would be needed to help properly install these new units. All three of these units use the following filler kit: JX36BSS. We hope that this helps! Stay safe. -Michael@GEA

A:AnswerHello Dennis! Thanks for reaching out to us and for your loyalty to our microwaves. We're sorry that the new unit is not installing correctly. We see how this can be frustrating. These two model numbers are the same microwave. If you are replacing your old microwave with the same model, then it's still recommended to use the new hardware that came with the unit to install the microwave. If you bought a different model, it would have came with a new kit as well that you will have to use to install the microwave. This includes using all of the new hardware that came with it. If you have any further issues, please feel free to reach out to us at: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/contact.htm
Hope this helps! Emily@GEA
A:AnswerHello iowawalilley,
Great question! We'd be more than happy to help you. Your microwave having vents at the top, means that it's externally vented. External ventilation uses a fan to draw air through the microwave's vents and into an exhaust duct leading to the outside. This means that most of the moisture, heat, and odor generated by cooking goes directly outside. To find this information, we recommend looking at the specs of the microwaves you're considering. Check the row that says "venting type", and make sure it says externally vented. We would like to know more about your current microwaves measurements. This would allow us to be more accurate in suggesting compatible replacements. You can reach out to us through the support link on our website or on social media. We thank you for choosing GE and hope to hear from you soon!
