Q: QuestionThere appears to be an inside vent that comes with a solid cover. Is this supposed to come off?
Asked by Jen.
- A:Answer Hi Jen - We hope you're enjoying your new microwave and the smudge-proof Slate finish. Thanks for choosing GE. The cardboard cover on the right top or side wall of the microwave interior is there by design. The cardboard (mica) covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity and should not be removed. The microwave should not be used for any function if this cardboard cover is not in place. If removed, it would require service to replace. Follow the instructions in the owner's manual for cleaning the interior of the oven. The same instructions apply to the cover. Q: QuestionWe moved into our house 1 year ago and now need to replace the microwave - not sure how old it is. But we are in need of replacing an OTR white microwave JVM3660WD GE Profile Spacemaker. I'm not sure which GE model would be best to replace this.
Asked by MFDINMD.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Steam Cleaning - White
- A:Answer Hello MFDINMD - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. Your current JVM3660WD is a 36" wide microwave. We no longer offer a 36" microwave, however, most of our 30" microwaves have optional side panel kits. The good news is that all 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy. This JVM7195DKWW with the optional side panel kit #JX36DWW would be a wonderful replacement model. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Q: QuestionCan this also be used as countertop Microwave? thank you!
Asked by Kitty.
- A:Answer Hi Kitty- Over- the- range microwaves cannot be used on a counter or shelf. The underside is not flat and would not provide a stable surface. Additionally, there can be a heat issue, especially if the vent fan or surface lights were accidentally turned on. We suggest the following countertop models in Slate: GE Profile™ Series 1.5 Cu. Ft. Countertop Convection/Microwave Oven PEB9159EJES, GE Profile™ Series 2.2 Cu. Ft. Countertop Sensor Microwave Oven PES7227ELES and GE Profile™ Series 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven PEM31EFES. Slate appliances blend with today's premium kitchen materials. The rich matte appearance naturally hides fingerprints and smudges to maintain its beauty.
