Q: QuestionWe currently have JVM3160RFSS installed and thinking if we can replace it with JVM7195SKSS for bigger size and features. Will that require new holes in upper cabinet and wall mount plate? Or will we able to use existing wall plate and holes for screws?
Asked by JVM3160RFSSwithJVM7195SKSS.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Steam Cleaning - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hello - We appreciate your interest in replacing your microwave and we are happy to help! Mounting plates are model specific, and cannot be reused from model to model. You would need to use the mounting plate that comes with a new model. While the space needed for the new microwave is the same, we do recommend using the new mounting bracket and hardware that is packaged with the new microwave. Consequently, it is possible new holes would have to be created to accommodate the new bracket. We hope this information is helpful. Thanks for checking! We appreciate your loyalty! Olga

Q: QuestionFor microwave model JVM7195DKWW, I am thinking of ducting as follows: 5 ft vertical to attic (inside 2x4 wall), bend 90 degrees horizontal 7 ft (between 10" joists), then vertical 2 or 3 ft to roof vent. Is this okay, or what? Start with rectangular?

- A:Answer Hello Steve85, Thanks so much for reaching out. Good question. We'd recommend following the ducting instructions provided throughout the installation instructions. Specific instructions can be found starting on page 12 for outside top exhaust. The instructions provides a chart where you can keep track of your materials and see your total duct length. https://files.bbystatic.com/D8505xASz7TWU7wUCScjfA%3D%3D/0a7b21f9-9d0c-4603-92ac-485d94d13f8d.pdf As long as the length does not exceed 140 feet, you should be fine. Q: QuestionI currently have a Whirlpool microwave that is on the fritz. I plan to replace it with the GE 1.9 Over-the-Range microwave. What is the difference between Convertible and External venting?
Asked by larrymcd.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Steam Cleaning - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Today most new over the range microwaves are convertible to recirculating or the standard external venting. When setup for external venting the internal vent system discharges against a duct extending from the microwave top or rear to the outside air either through the roof, or to an eave vent. When set up for recirculating the air recirculates through a charcoal filter and comes out the bottom of the microwave back into the room. The conversion from exterior venting to recirculating is a very easy process and the procedure is described in the installation manual.

Q: QuestionIs there a big difference between the 300 cvm gam and the 400 cvm fan. Decide if between the 6175 and the 7195. O lucky use for reheating food. Does fan matter?
Asked by Mills.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Steam Cleaning - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hello Mills, Thank you so much for reaching out. Excellent question. CFM (cubic feet per minute) is a unit of measurement of the exchange of air from one area to another. The higher the CFM, the more air can be moved from one area to another. If you vent internally, then there is no need to use CFM since air is being recirculated. This model has a top CFM of 400 and has four different speeds. We hope this was helpful. Best wishes. Mike@GEA

Q: QuestionMy JVM7195SF1SS is brushed nickel ss rather than shiny chrome. Is this the same color? My microwave has to be replaced because of a known issue with the door switch that makes it keep running. Has this been fixed in this model? The model number is close.
Asked by Cryss.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Steam Cleaning - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Probably the microwave is not brushed nickel but is stainless steel. The stainless is a thin sheet of metal capping a plastic panel beneath. The stainless steel is not shiny therefore appears like brushed nickel.I hope the issue you described has been fixed. I previously had the same model number that was about 5 years old and had the same issue with the microwave not shutting off. The problem is not he door switch as told to me by a professional repair facility and that if used the microwave may catch fire. I have replaced the microwave with a new one of the same model. Hope this issue does not happen again . YTo me 5 years is a short life for a microwave.

Q: QuestionThis is to replace a GE Profile PVM1870DM3WW where the led has dimmed that it can no longer be seen. From the size, everything looks the same except that I believe the depth of mine is 151/4 whereas this is 151/2. Is this a good replacement
Asked by Zonlaw.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Steam Cleaning - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hi Zonlaw, thanks for your question! All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy! - NOTE: When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. The new model that you've chosen will make for a fine replacement to your old unit. We hope that this helps! All the best. -Michael

Q: QuestionHow do you remove surface glass to change the light bulb?
Asked by Surface1Light.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Steam Cleaning - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hello, thank you for reaching out to us. If the interior light needs to be replaced, follow these instructions: 1. Unplug the microwave oven. 2. Remove or open the vent grille or vent cover. Instructions are in the "To Remove the Charcoal Filter" section of your Owner's Manual. 3. Once the vent is removed or opened, remove the lamp compartment cover by removing the screw that holds the cover in place. If the cover is too difficult to access, a service technician will be required. 4. If you have a charcoal filter, remove it so that you can see the access area. On some models, the access area is small and it can be difficult to get to the light cover. 5. Remove the bulb Incandescent lamps: Remove by pushing inward gently and turning counter-clockwise. Halogen lamps: Gently pull straight out 6. Replace the old bulb with the same wattage bulb. 7. Replace the compartment cover and vent grille. 8. Plug in the microwave. However, if the cooktop/nite light needs to be replaced, follow these instructions: 1. First disconnect the power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel, or pull the plug. 2. Remove the screw from the side of the light compartment cover and lower the cover until it stops. 3. Be sure the bulb is cool before removing. Break the adhesive seal by gently unscrewing the bulb. 4. Screw in the new bulb, then raise the light cover and replace the screw. Connect electrical power to the oven. We hope this helps. Q: QuestionI have tiles would that effect new installation?
Asked by beau.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Steam Cleaning - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hi Beau: We also have a tile back splash but I was replacing an existing microwave. The installation instructions should give you direction on this as to what size space you need to allow for but there should be some allowance for the depth. The width of the hole is less forgiving because there is a minimum amount of space required but you can check the install instructions to see what these are: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-specs/JVM7195SKSS/install My other advice is to have a good masonry bit, wood bit and a stud finder on hand. Even though I was just replacing another GE microwave, the mounting bracket for the new one was different and required that I drilled new holes through the tile. The first bit I used was worn and took forever on the first two holes and then I found my better one and it zipped right through. Overall, my installation went pretty smoothly and I had mine installed inside of any hour. Hope this helps and good luck.

- A:Answer Hi Donna - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your GE Microwave Model # JVM7195EKES. We are sorry to hear of the error when trying to heat water for your tea. This is frustrating, we know. The Beverage function on this model is sensor-controlled. The microwave will detect the serving size and adjust the heating time accordingly. To use the Beverage feature, simply press the Beverage pad one time (oven starts immediately). SENSOR ERROR appears on the display if the door is opened before steam is detected. Do not open door until steam is sensed and time is shown counting down on the display. Also, Sensor Reheat is for single servings of recommended foods, 4-16 oz. of any beverage. Use Cook Time option for other amounts.
