Q: QuestionI have this microwave and it does not heat like it is supposed to. I’m not sure what is wrong with it.
Asked by Chelle.
- A:Answer Hi Chelle - Thanks for reaching out to us! The microwave cooking wattage is 1000. If you have multiple appliances on the same circuit, this could affect the cooking wattage. The microwave requires a 120 volt individual, properly grounded branch circuit with a 3 prong grounding type receptacle, protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse. Over-the-range models should be on a dedicated circuit. Check out the following link for tips- FOOD TAKING TOO LONG TO COOK IN MICROWAVE: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=18799 - Also, you may want to follow the below steps to test the performance of your microwave: Place a glass bowl (preferably a 2qt. glass measuring bowl) with 1qt. of water in the center of the microwave cavity. The water must be 59-75 degrees Fahrenheit (15-24 degrees Celsius). Heat the water for exactly 2 minutes 30 seconds on High (this is the default setting). A temperature rise in the range of 28-40 degrees Fahrenheit (15-22 degrees Celsius) indicates that the oven is cooking properly. If you feel that your food is still not cooking properly, then we would recommend having your microwave checked by a service technician. Please schedule an appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service at GEAppliances.com/service or call 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737). Keep in touch! Sue

Q: QuestionCan this be mounted under a cabinet?
Asked by Cul.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Steam Cleaning - Slate
- A:Answer Hi Cul - It can be installed under a cabinet, even if there is not a cooking surface underneath; however, the height clearances must still be met. Over- the- range models must be installed 66" from the floor to the bottom of the cabinet that the microwave attaches to. This can also be measured as 30" from the cooktop to the bottom of the cabinet it attaches to. Q: QuestionI bought a ge microwave model jvm7195sf1ss December of 2014 and it stopped heating. What should I do?
Asked by Darci.
- A:Answer This has happened to my previous 3 microwaves over the years. Each time, it was something called a magnetron. It is a very expensive part - usually over 100.00 for just the part. To me, it isn’t cost effective. Microwaves seem to last only 3-4 years. We have just replaced them, but will no longer buy the fanciest ones. We have been lucky to find great deals on open box items.

Q: QuestionIn the GE Microwave, model JM7195SK3SS. A small cardboard cover is connected to the interior right wall with a screw. Looks like they forgot to attach a plate or something. Is this an error? Can't imagine this cardboard piece holding up over time.
Asked by JEMML.
- A:Answer Hi JEMML - The cardboard cover on the right top or side wall of the microwave interior is there by design. The cardboard (mica) covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity and should not be removed. The microwave should not be used for any function if this cardboard cover is not in place. If removed, it would require service to replace. To clean, follow the instructions in the owner's manual for cleaning the interior of the oven. The same instructions apply. Q: QuestionI am trying to find a microwave that will fit a 29.75" opening, but in my shopping I have found that most microwaves are 29.875" wide. The dimensions on this one are listed as 29.75" wide, but it says for a 30" opening. Is it really 29.75" wide? Thanks!
Asked by Sallylyn77.
- A:Answer They are not all the same width. Whoever made the cabinet opening in my house did not make it 30 inches wide. It is a little narrower and a standard 29 7/8 microwave is too wide. A 29 3/4 microwave is a very snug fit. I would double check the size of the opening. It should be 30 inches. Good luck.

Q: QuestionHi, does the GE 7195 microwave need to be vented outside or can it be used as is?
Asked by allwhldrv.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Steam Cleaning - Slate
- A:Answer The only thing that actually 'vents' air from a microwave is the Vent Fan. That fan must be connected to an exhaust outlet and it is turned either On or Off from the front control panel. But, Yes, you can definitely cook in the microwave without turning the vent fan on.
