Q: QuestionHi I have the GE Microwave but recently purchased a 15 inch cabinet. I bought the 3 inch extension but am concerned it may be to far out over the gas stove. Is there a recommend requirements. Thanks

• A:Answer Hello JR. Over-the-range microwaves require a minimum 66" mounting height from the floor to the top on the microwave. The 66" minimum from the floor dimension will allow approximately 14"-16" between the cooktop and the bottom front of the microwave. • A:Answer Hi Jen - We hope you're enjoying your new microwave and the smudge-proof Slate finish. Thanks for choosing GE. The cardboard cover on the right top or side wall of the microwave interior is there by design. The cardboard (mica) covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity and should not be removed. The microwave should not be used for any function if this cardboard cover is not in place. If removed, it would require service to replace. Follow the instructions in the owner's manual for cleaning the interior of the oven. The same instructions apply to the cover. Outside Exhaust (Horizontal). Recirculating (Non-vented ductless). Recirculating Charcoal Filter JX81H is included. We also offer GE® 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven with Recirculating Venting JNM7196SKSS. This model is the same except delivered from factory in recirculating position (no conversion necessary). Q: QuestionWe moved into our house 1 year ago and now need to replace the microwave - not sure how old it is. But we are in need of replacing an OTR white microwave JVM3660WD GE Profile Spacemaker. I'm not sure which GE model would be best to replace this.

• A:Answer Hello MFDINMD - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. Your current JVM3660WD is a 36" wide microwave. We no longer offer a 36" microwave, however, most of our 30" microwaves have optional side panel kits. The good news is that all 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy. This JVM7195DKWW with the optional side panel kit #JX36DWW would be a wonderful replacement model. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

For a helpful illustration, see page 18 of the Owner’s Manual, which can be viewed at the bottom of the Features tab on the product page of the Best Buy website. The light bulb is a 120-volt, 50-watt (max) halogen bulb. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. However, we do recommend that you measure your space and ensure that it meets all requirements for this model. The installation requirements can be viewed in the “Mounting Space” section on page 6 of the Installation Instructions (which can be viewed at the bottom of the Features tab on the product page of the Best Buy website).
