A:AnswerHi Larry- Thanks for choosing our GE Unitized Spacemaker® Washer/Dryer GUD24ESSMWW! For Side Venting: Detach and remove the right or left side knockout (one only) as desired. Rotate elbow sections so that the opening points to the side to which you want to vent. Preassemble 4” elbow with 4” duct. Use only 4” UL approved rigid metal for ducting inside the dryer. Insert duct assembly through the side opening and connect to the internal dryer elbow duct. We suggest to view page 15 of the Installation Instructions at the following link: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-16781-1.pdf - CONNECTING THE DRYER TO
HOUSE VENT: For best drying performance, a rigid 4" metal transition duct is recommended (sold separately). Rigid metal transition ducts reduce the risk of crushing and kinking. If rigid metal cannot be used, then UL-listed flexible metal clothes dryer transition duct (GE Appliances part – PM08X10085 sold separately, can be used.) See page 12 (Tools and materials you will need). Keep in touch! SUE@GEA
A:Answerthe capacity is larger than our old machine, but we don't think a queen size comforter would wash in this washer. We do wash 2 queen size sheets and pillow cases with no problem.
A:AnswerHi Poetruth- We are excited to hear of your interest! Whites Wash Cycle is approximately 19-34 minutes. Drying times will vary according to these factors:•Type of heat used (gas vs electric). •Size of the load. •Type of fabric. For example, cottons hold more water than synthetics. •Wetness of the clothes. Washers with higher spin speeds extract more water from the clothes before they go into the dryer. •Cycle selected. Ex. More Dry vs Less Dry •Condition of your exhaust venting. There is not a standard dry time unless you use a Timed Dry cycle (30-90 Min.) Washer Cycles: Bulky Items, Casuals, Colors/Normal (Heavy, Normal, Light), Delicates, Drain + Spin, PreSoak, Speed Wash, Whites (Heavy, Normal, Light). Washer Options/Settings: 2nd Rinse, Deep Rinse (select when using fabric softener). Dryer Cycles: Cottons (Auto, Less Dry, More Dry, Optimum Dry), Delicates Cycle (Auto, Less Dry, More Dry), Easy Care (Auto, Casuals, Less Dry, More Dry), Dewrinkle, Quick Fluff. The washer features WiFi Connect (optional module PBX10W00Y0 sold separately). A:AnswerHello,
We are sorry to hear that your laundry center is not draining properly and are here to help! Here are a few trips that may be helpful in troubleshooting your Appliances. -If your spacemaker washer is not draining, check the following: Pauses- If your washer is not draining, wait a few minutes. For many models, it is normal to have pauses between cycles of up to 3 minutes. If you have a dial, do not manually advance the timer if it is pausing after agitation, as you may miss the pump-out cycle.- Drain hose or plumbing-
Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or clogged. Make sure the washer is not trying to drain more than 8 ft. higher than the floor. The maximum height most GE full size washers will pump is 8 feet from the floor. The drain hose goes into a standpipe, drain or other household plumbing. Remove the drain hose and pour a quart of water into the standpipe or drain. If water will not drain, a plumber is recommended.-Water sloshing sound- If no water is visible in the basket but you hear a "sloshing water" sound, this is likely the washer's balance ring. The balance ring is an enclosed plastic container partially filled with a saltwater (brine) solution that is attached to the inner clothes basket. It allows the basket to spin smoothly during an out-of-balance situation.
- Drain pump clogged- Foreign objects in the drain pump may reduce drain performance. Some Spacemaker washers have an access cap to allow you to clean out the drain pump. Tilt the washer forward and place a container so that any residual water in the washer will be collected when the access cap is removed.
We hope this helps! If these tips don't solve the problem please reach out and make a service appointment. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737, Mon-Fri 7 am – 10 pm ET, Sat-Sun 8 am – 6 pm ET.

A:AnswerHi TomBaltimore - This appliance should be connected to an individual, properly-grounded branch circuit with 240V single-phase 60 Hz electrical service and should be protected by 30-amp time-delay fuses or circuit breakers. This appliance is manufactured with neutral connected to the frame. Power cord should be purchased separately. Thanks for choosing GE! Sue
A:AnswerHi Toni,
Based on our research, we are finding that this unit is not ventless. It must be vented externally. If you would like to read about how to go about venting your dryer, you can take a look at pg. 12 of your installation instructions, here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-16781-3.pdf - If you have questions about hooking up your washer you can take a look at pg. 16 of your installation instructions. A:AnswerHi Jeff- This appliance should be connected to an individual, properly-grounded branch
circuit with 120/240V single-phase 60 Hz electrical service and should be protected by 30-amp time-delay fuses or circuit breakers. Purchase a UL rated 120/240V, 30A power cord with 3 or 4 prongs ( Identify the plug type as per the house receptacle before purchasing line cord). See page 8 of the Installation Instructions: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-16781-1.pdf - Thanks for choosing GE! SUE@GEA
A:AnswerHello, thanks for asking this excellent question! Be sure to clean the lint filter before each use by sliding out the grid that covers the filter and running your fingers across the filter. You may find that a waxy buildup can form on the lint filter from using dryer-added fabric softener sheets. To remove this buildup, wash the lint screen in warm, soapy water, then dry thoroughly and replace. (Do not operate the dryer without the lint filter and grid in place.) We also recommend having a qualified technician vacuum the lint from the dryer once a year. We hope this helps! Best, Kelsey@GEA
