Hi there, We can certainly understand you being worried about the door being left open! While this freezer does not have a self closing door, it does have an alarm that will ring if the door has been left open for too long or if the temperature rises. This will certainly let anyone know if they forgot to close the door. Stay in touch! Mike@GEA
