Hi there - Thanks for asking this question! All chest freezers have a stopping point for the lid so it does not go all the way back and hit the wall behind it. Lids generally pivot on hinges and pistons to help raise and stop them at about 80 degrees. We do not have an approved way to adjust this and we do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
