• You can purchase a window A/C extension cord from one of the large Big Box home improvement stores.

• Hi Johnfh - Our room air conditioners must be plugged directly into a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord or plug the unit into a surge protector or multi-outlet adapter. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue

• Hello Johnfh, Yes it can, in fact that's exactly what i did. Although the cord is sufficiently long enough to reach a mid-wall outlet, i chose to use a surge protector to get to a hidden outlet to better hide the cable. The plug conveniently has a circuit breaker built in if it exceeds current draw.
