Current appliances have a data port (like an RJ jack or ethernet port) that allows the appliance to be tested or serviced more easily. This port is used by GE Appliances factory technicians to plug in their diagnostic equipment when needed. QuestionI just got my new GE Spacemaker tonight and when I start a load to wash it will fill with water, start the cycle, and then just shut off. Has anyone else had this problem?

QuestionRE: Dedicates. My previous stackable had one speed for the agitator and simply washed dedicates in less time while frequently stopping the agitator which was harsh on the clothing. Does this machine have different agitator speeds? Explain in detail

- Answer Hi SpecialK - The washer has 1 Wash/Spin Speed. Delicates is same speed as Whites / Colors, but with a softer agitation pattern. It reverses agitation direction less often (less strokes per minute) and turns in a smaller arc before reversing. QuestionWhat is the total depth needed for this unit. We have a total depth from wall to door of 31 inches. Thanks JC

- Answer Hi JC - The unit is 30 7/8" deep. For side venting, 3 additional inches of room depth are needed versus the unit depth shown in the manual. The vent needs to go down first and then to the left or to the right. One elbow (plus the straight ductwork) is enough to make the side venting. QuestionJust purchased this combo unit. Our apartment does not have the traditional washer hook up and we need to hook up the washer to the over the sink faucet. The dirty water will be dispensed in the sink. What kit do we need to purchase to make this happen?

QuestionThe depth of this unit unit is about 31 inches, how much additional room is needed for the dryer vent in the back to fit properly? The distance from our door to the wall is about 33 inches only leaving about 2 inches in the back. I may have to visit BB.

- Answer The total distance from the back wall to the front of the unit is 36 inches, bot keep in mind that the washer unit extends further out than the dryer portion

- Answer Hi - Unitized washer dryer units only have one power cord. There is not a separate cord for the washer and the dryer. Electric models should be connected to a dedicated 240V or 208V 30-amp time-delay fuse or circuit breaker. The 240/208V will power the dryer, and the unit internally steps it down to 110/120V for the washer. The power cord is sold separately. QuestionWhen I place an average size load in the dryer and select timed dry, the dryer will only run for about 7-10 minutes and then shuts off. When it cools down, it can be restarted. Isn’t it just supposed to turn off the heat and keep the air and drum moving?

QuestionWhat is the highest air temperature in the dryer in each of the four cycles--Cottons, Easy Care, Delicates, and Timed? I am noticing cleaning instructions on labels that say to dry at a certain temperature or no higher than a certain temperature.

- Answer Hi Elle - Thanks for your interest in GE! The internal temperature of a dryer may be affected by several variables. Some of these variables are: 1. Load Size and Dampness. The combination of these two factors determines the amount of Heat Sink. Heat Sink is the cooling action taking place when the clothes give up their moisture to the hot air stream that is flowing through the dryer drum. 2. Room Temperature. A dryer pulls air in and heats it up to help dry the clothes. Hence, the air temperature of the room may effect the outgoing temperature in the dryer. 3. Air Flow. Restrictions in air flow such as long vents, vinyl flexible ductwork, or lint build up will cause heat to rise rather than following its designed air flow pattern. When this occurs, safety thermostat(s) will sense the high temperature building within the drum and cycle the heat source off until the excessive temperature has subsided. Following temperatures represents outlet thermostat set points and not the air temperature in the drum. Medium and High Heat have the same outlet thermostat temperature set points however, their technical applications are different: Low Heat (Delicate/Gentle): 125°F; Medium Heat Permanent Press) 135°F; High (Normal/Cottons) 135°F. Timed Dry will automatically dry on High Heat. If you still have difficulty, make sure cord is plugged securely into a working outlet. Turn power off at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or so. This appliance should be connected to an individual, properly-grounded branch circuit with 240V or 208V single-phase 60 Hz electrical service and should be protected by 30-amp time-delay fuses or circuit breakers. The LED lights will turn on when the washer is awake and ready to use. Select desired wash cycle, close the lid and press the Start button. If the Status lights are blinking, the operation of the washer has been paused. To resume operation press the Start button (the lid must be closed). The lid must be closed to continue filling when Precise Fill is selected.
