The foamlike material is used as an insulator and should not be removed. If you are continuing to have an issue with the Filter light flickering and/or the air conditioner is not cooling properly, we recommend disconnecting power to your air conditioner for 2-3 minutes to reset the electronics. If the issue persists once power is restored and the unit is less than 90 days old, please return the unit to your retailer for an exchange.
