Now that we got a working one it's great. Unfortunately the first one we got, only worked for about 3 days. After that it never blew air colder than 75 degrees no matter what temperature we had it set. We took it back to Best buy and they gladly replaced it with a new working model. This one works FANTASTICALLY WELL. The remote makes it easy to start, stop, or change the temperature, fan speed, or mode without having to get up out of bed and walk to the window. As someone with limited mobility I truly appreciate that. It has been rare that I have needed to set the fan to anything other than "Auto". I love that setting as it automatically adjusts the fan speed so the room gets to the desired temperature quicker and then slows back down on its own to maintain that temp. The 'medium' and moreso the 'high' fan speeds are a little noisy, but not so bad that they trigger the hearing issues I have with loud noises. The 'low' speed while not silent is quiet enough that I can actually block it out and watch TV or listen to music without having to put the volume away up to hear over the AC. There are a few mode settings. In all honesty I haven't used, by choice, anything but "cool". The fan setting works, but if I wanted a fan I wouldn't have bought an AC unit. That being said, I do not like the "Eco" setting at all. I feel like it saves energy by not actually cooling off my room. It's very possible that I don't fully understand what the "Eco" setting is supposed to do nor how it is suppose to work, but being "ancient", as my teen daughter tells me regularly, there are things I except to work a certain way and when they don't I don't like them. When I turn on a window AC unit I expect it to blow cold air and make the room cooler I quickly. The "cool" setting works perfect for this, the Eco setting does not. The only reason for the 4 star rating is that when you turn the unit off, no matter what the settings were, when you turn it back on again the mode is "Eco". The instruction booklet was less than helpful finding a way to keep this from happening. In NJ in October there are days when the heat is on in the morning it but by the afternoon we need the AC again. Many times I would be in my room trying to figure out why it was so hot and then realized the unit had switched back to "Eco" when I turned it back on. Once I put it to "cool" the room cooled almost instantly. It is a very powerful unit, definitely bigger than we needed for just our bedroom, however when we leave the door open, it also easily cools the dining room (directly across the hall) and a good portion of the kitchen and living room areas (next to the dining room). The "auto" setting on the fan helps keep all of it cool or just our room (depending on whether or not our door is open or closed) by adjusting the fan. It's wonderful. For the most part, installation was simple, the biggest issue my husband had was due to the fact that we have stupidly small windows. Once we installed and removed from inside the house problem solved. We just had to put down some water proof pads in case it dropped weather out condensation when removed from the window. The side flaps work well, however we do cover the seams around them with painters tape as an extra precaution as we live in a highly wooded area with a lot of tiny bugs that come in otherwise. It may not look the best, but we have always done this with every window AC unit we have ever had and it truly helps. If my house is cool and the bugs can't get in, I don't care if the tape looks silly. I'm happy.

The air conditioner works perfectly easy to set up as well since i purchased the ac its barely been turned off. This ac is perfect for medium to one person bedrooms. The modes available are great also even in fan mode the ac cools well too i would recommend i actually already have to a couple of people i know.

This G.E Air Conditioner is great. Obviously not as powerful as my previous 10,000 but combines with a small fan it keeps you very cool. My livingroom is 268 sq feet(14.5x18.5) and it does the job. Its easy to used with remote and removable filter. Very easy to install. If you've put in a.c's for a while youll know how to do this. Best of all the price was awesome from best buy as it was ready in 1 hr to pick up better than amazons 3 days.

It keeps it cool and doesn’t raise the electric bill as bad as I originally thought while set on eco and seems to do well in a 14x18 foot room over the garage. The sqft is a bit less than that of a 14x18 due to ceiling slant on one side

Cools well so far. Has been installed and running well as needed for about a year. Relatively easy to install. Great price.

This A/C unit has a different look from others. My grandson put it in for me and he really liked it. So far, so good. This GE cools nicely. I can even feel it in my kitchen. It’s so much quieter than others I have had over the years (this is important to me) I like that it has Smart capabilities. I haven’t played with that at the moment. I was just so thrilled how much cooler and quieter it is. Has been running, non-stop, for several weeks now. It’s been in the 90’s, with high humidity in Pa! So, I guess you could say, It’s a winner, so far!

Terrific little a/c window unit - quickly cooled my room down. It’s not too loud, love having a remote, love that it’s only 43 pounds, love that self-installation was simple! Want to know what I don’t like and why I only have it 4 stars? You cannot see the control panel unless your nose is almost touching the unit! This is not a Best Buy problem - this is a GE problem - and if one is relying on the remote to make changes - well, it’s good for shutting the unit off

This was an accidental purchase. I ordered a unit that sounds like refridge. After I ordered it, was having buyers remorse...read the reviews in more detail, was even more unhappy, realized it wasn't the wifi model and purchased through paypal and didn't want the hassle of cancelling after talking to my daughter and office mate. So was going to take it and be happy. It arrived damaged. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I had the LG model in my cart on Amazon but wanted to see what BB offered. The GE was the only 8000 BTU model they had. I didn't even see this model in searching initially. My daughter pulled up the reviews..4.7, impressive. Learned it was a new model for 2024, pulled the trigger at $30 more and couldn't be happier, installed in 15 minutes, quieter than the 5000 BTU model it replaced (needed the larger BTU unit for the space, the smaller one wasn't cutting it, especially after that last heat wave). The lowest the thermostat read with the old one was 77°, this one has it at a dreamy 70°. Extremely happy and can control it with my phone as I'm leaving the office or wake up to come down. I really do recommend this unit, hopefully many years of enjoyment.

Works well and cools quickly. It is a little loud, but I honestly prefer that since it drowns out outside noise. Smart features work pretty well. My window is small and opens left to right but it still fits well. I've only had it for about a month but so far it's working great!

This air conditioner works great. I read all the reviews before making the decision to purchase it and I’m very happy with it… It is cooling my house very well considering the size and I would highly recommend it. It’s easy to use and I do like the remote.

I am satisfied by purchasing this AC unit.It makes the room cool enough.Moreover one can control by using an app cause it's a smart AC.

Better than advertised! This a/c keeps my 500 sq ft room cool and comfortable! Fits in my smaller than normal window. Fits so well I didn't even need to tape the side fans like I've always had to do with other a/c's to fill the gaps and keep the bugs out! And because I used points from my best buy credit card, it was almost free! Love it!

I recommend this GE 8000 for afor a room ..great performance. I love it.

Easy installation. Not as noisy as some reviews state cools fairly well. It’s been very hot here for weeks. It takes a while to cool down the room but when it is at temperature it does a great job at keeping the low temperature. I don’t use the app; the remote is very handy. I bought one for the office and another for my wood shop.

Im pretty sure my room is a bit larger then 350sq feet but this AC unit cools it off perfectly and very fast on the medium setting. I love that it has the app and can be controlled away from home and scheduled to be turned on if you are away and have pets. This also works with the Smartthings hub from Samsung and you can add it to your smarthome hub for even easier control using your Galaxy smartphone! Highly reccomend this AC unit!

This AC definitely blows cold air. I would recommend removing the drain plug so you don't smell the water. If you're gonna use the Wi-Fi feature, make sure you have a much update WI. Fi, such as Wi-Fi 6.

It works good, but doesn't cool the room as much as I'd like. It also doesn't go below 64 and the styrofoam is cracked.

While it included a window installation kit, I opted for professional wall installation to ensure my window remained fully functional. I'm very pleased with the unit's slim design and how remarkably quiet it is during operation. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Needed a extra air conditioner in the house this summer with the temperatures being so high. It has been amazing i love being able to start it from my phone. Worth it !
