The unit actually does not have a power cord with a plug, and should instead be hard wired into the home electrical system. Page 7, step 6 of the installation instructions shows where we recommend drilling the hole in the wall for the wires to come out. The installs come with the hood. We appreciate your interest and understand how important fitting the range hood into your existing space is; we can advise the dimensions of this model are 9 7/8" H x 36" W x 18 1/2" D. There is a needed clearance between the range hood and the range beneath of at least 24”, but there shouldn’t be more than 38” between them to ensure proper ventilation. Further information regarding dimensions and installation are available in the installation instructions; if you need to review this, that is available on our GE website by searching for the model number, choosing the product and clicking ‘Owner Support’ on the product page. All current GE vent hoods can be installed over gas cooking products with combined surface burner BTU rating of approximately 65,000 BTUs or less. These products are not recommended for use above any range or cooktop that has a combined surface burner BTU rating over 65,000 BTUs. Combined surface burner rating does not include the oven/broiler BTUs. Exception: If the cooking product is over 65,000 BTUs but does not specify that a high performance (high CFM) hood needs to be installed, then you can proceed with the vent of your choice.
