Hi mags- Yes, you can press pause and soak for up to 24 hrs. with the lid closed. To continue the cycle, press Start again. Note: *Machine will automatically drain any time the lid is left open for more than 15 minutes and water is present. *Machine will automatically drain if left in a paused state with the lid closed for more than 24 hours and water is present. Yes it has a setting for deep clean wich soaks them before washing
