“Can the lid stay open as the water and soap are being added before putting the clothes in? I've seen some models where everything has to go in first, close the lid, then press start.”

Correct. You have to dial in on your settings, add the clothes and detergent, then close the lid, press start and then the machine will put in the water.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The washer will fill with water with the lid open if you select to manually choose the water level for the cycle. The washer will not fill with water when Auto is selected if the lid is opened. -Don@GEAppliances
