“Can the lid stay open as the water and soap are being added before putting the clothes in? I've seen some models where everything has to go in first, close the lid, then press start.”

The washer will fill with water with the lid open if you select to manually choose the water level for the cycle. The washer will not fill with water when Auto is selected if the lid is opened. -Don@GEAppliances
