Hi Dave - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE! When Auto Soak is selected the washer fills to the level selected (Low, Medium, High, Max, Precise Fill). Also, a metal clanking or clicking noise when the unit is going from agitate to spin is the mode shifter shifting from agitate to spin. When the machine is transitioning from agitate to spin, the gears that interlock the agitator and basket are engaging, so the basket and agitator will spin together. You will also heat a metallic click at the beginning of the cycle, the lid will lock, creating a clicking noise. The basket will then spin up and coast down several times to sense the load size. You will hear the click several times as the lock engages and disengages. We suggest viewing the following link -TOP LOAD WASHERS - NOISES HEARD DURING AGITATION: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=21894 - Also, take a look at "Sounds/Possible Causes" on page of the Use and Care Manual at this link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90576-3.pdf - We hope this is helpful. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As far as the soaking, you want to select a water level that covers the clothes to be soaked. There is a load clicking noise when the machine goes into the spin cycle. Is this what you are referring to? This seems to be a normal, but weird, part of the process.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I always keep my machine on the precise fill setting, and have never had a water level problem. Also I have never heard loud clicking noises, just soft clicking noises during wash cycle.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
