  • QuestionCan a person ' fine tune ' the fill level; ie, does this machine have smart-fill only with no options for the operator?

    Asked by Diane.

    • Answer The model:GTW465ASNWW has Both an Auto fill with ‘Deep Fill’ selection option (which sometimes still does not provide enough water) AND Manually set ‘Water Level - Load Size’ settings that allow you to determine how much water is needed for your wash. After a lot of research it was the only top load washer that gives both control to the person doing the wash. Lot’s of other expected options for soaking time, water temperature, number of rinse cycles, and ability to Pause and (after a brief time for tub to stop spinning) unlocks the lid during spin cycles that when you press Start/Pause button again picks up where it left off.

  • QuestionCan you start the washer and let it START filling up before adding clothes? I like to start it, add laundry soap, then clothes. Thanks!

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Yes you can. Pick your cycle options, leave the lid closed & press start. The washer will start to add water, starting & stopping in the process while it senses the load. When it starts to fill steadily go ahead & lift the lid, add your detergent & clothes. I do this & rinse out the measuring cup with the water coming in.

  • Questionwhere do you put detergent

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer You just put the detergent in with the clothes. There is a spot for softener in the middle and a spot for bleach. I was hoping for a washer with a detergent dispenser but am still very happy with this washer even though it doesnt have one. It gets our clothes much cleaner than my old washer with less detergent.

  • QuestionWhat is wrong when your washer won't spin out

    Asked by Trina.

    • Answer It’s probably a code diagnostic issue. The codes to reset the washer can be found under the machine. Just tilt the machine, and the paperwork with the codes are taped to the inside wall under it. Not sure why they put it there but I did my homework before buying this washer. Others complained about this spin issue and I found the above answer online. When my washer was delivered, I reached underneath and got those codes before it was installed. The delivery men didn’t even know that paperwork was there. Glad I could show them something new! Hope this works for you!

  • QuestionWhat is the recommended way of adding liquid detergent -- on the bottom before loading, or afterward on top of the load? The Owner's Manual and the "Owner's Reference Guide" card seem to contradict one another.

    Asked by Kirue.

    • Answer Hi Kirue - Thanks for choosing GE Model GTW465ASNWW! We are sorry for any confusion regarding adding liquid detergent to your washer. For current models, it is recommended to add the manufacturer’s recommended amount of liquid HE detergent to the top of the load after adding clothes (if using pods, add to the bottom of the wash basket before adding clothes). We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue

  • QuestionDoes the washer agitate during a deep rinse, or does it only spin?

    Asked by sbwash.

    • Answer After watching the spin cycle basically just spinning and spraying at the same time, we discovered that the deep rinse is the traditional refill with water, agitate, pump out, and spin. May be more spraying and spinning also.

  • QuestionIs this considered an HE washing machine?

    Asked by Hopper.

    • Answer Hi Hopper - Top-loading and front-loading GE Appliance washers with the HE label are defined as washers that use low-water levels in wash and rinse cycles. Some GE Appliance washer models have the "HE" label on the control panel and other models do not (GTW465ASNWW has "HE" on the control panel). However, GE Appliances recommends HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance. HE detergent works best with the lower water levels used in all modern washing machines and cleans just as well as standard detergents regardless of the machine type or age. This model offers DEEP FILL- Enjoy total control and customization of your water levels with the touch of a button that lets you add just a little extra water or fill the tub. • QuestionHi. Why is the hose that empties from the washer to the drain straight? It is really hokey that you have to use a zip tie and wrap around the water pipe. It looks bad. :(

    Asked by JSwitzer.

    • Answer Hi JSwitzer - Thanks for reaching out to us and for sharing your concern regarding the drain hose design. To be confident that no siphoning of water will take place, the drain plumbing should be a minimum of 30" high and less than 8 feet high. If drain is not 30" high, we have packed with new washers, in the installation package, an anti-siphon clip that attaches to the hose and the back of the washer to lift the drain hose up higher. • QuestionHow long is the wash from start to finish?

    Asked by Jaygee.

    • Answer Hi Jaygee - Thanks for viewing GE Model GTW465ASNWW! The Normal wash cycle time is approximately 40-42 (without options). When each option is selected, the total wash time will increase (Extra Spin, 2nd Rinse, etc.). The washer will adapt the run time within the cycle and from load to load, so the actual time could be several minutes more or less. Also, cycle times do not include the time it takes to fill or drain. This can vary due to water pressure. We'd love to have you in the family. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue
