  • QuestionHow many times can you press the deep fill button to add an additional 3 gallons of water? I called GE and was told that you can only do this 3 times (to add a total of 9 gallons of water more). Is this true?

    Asked by emmie.

    • Answer Hi Emmie - Thanks for your interest in GE Model GTW465ASNWW! We are happy to clarify the Deep Fill option. You can press Deep Fill twice, once before starting the cycle to add 3 gallons of water or after the washer has stopped filling to add 3 more gallons. Or, press and hold Deep Fill button for 3 seconds to fill the washer to the maximum water level (approx. 26 gallons). We suggest viewing the following link - TOP LOAD WASHERS - DEEP FILL: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=22718 - We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this has caused. • Questionis this a high efficiency washer

    Asked by Emis.

    • Answer Hi Emis - Thanks for your interest in GE! Top-loading and front-loading GE Appliance washers with the HE label are defined as washers that use low-water levels in wash and rinse cycles. Some GE Appliance washer models have the "HE" label on the control panel, including GTW465ASNWW, and other models do not. However, GE Appliances recommends HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance. HE detergent works best with the lower water levels used in all modern washing machines and cleans just as well as standard detergents regardless of the machine type or age. This model has both Deep Fill and Deep Rinse options. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue

    Asked by Jen.

  • QuestionI want to be sure I have enough space above the machine to open the lid fully. Is there a lock function to keep the lid from closing if it can’t go vertical? If not, what is the height requirement from top of machine to open the lid all the way vertical?

    Asked by Lidlock.

    • Answer Hi Lidlock - The overall height with lid up is 54". We suggest to view the Quick Specs at the following link for all product dimensions and more: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=GTW465ASN_C2_19.pdf - The lid lock feature engages when the washer is either load-sensing before and during fill, or when it is spinning above 50 RPM. See TOP LOAD WASHER - LID LOCK FEATURE: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=23192 - Also, GE® 4.5 cu. ft. Capacity Washer with Stainless Steel Basket GTW685BSLWS has a soft-close glass lid that is engineered to close gently every time (56" high with lid up). The soft close glass lid uses hydraulic technology to allow the lid to open to various angles, then close gently every time. Great for tight spaces where the lid may be blocked by a shelf or cabinet installed above the washer. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com - Sue

  • QuestionA pipe broke while we were not home. It got wet inside where circuit board is. Fixed pipe now no power on washer. I am letting it dry out. Could the board be bad?

    Asked by Washer.

    • Answer Hi - Oh no! We are sorry to hear of this unfortunate incident. If your appliances have been exposed to water due to flooding, there could be danger of fire or electrical shock. Before you do anything else, first make sure power to the home or to the circuit breakers for the appliances are disconnected. Then unplug the appliances before touching or inspecting them. Deciding whether to repair or replace gas and electrical appliances damaged by floodwaters can be a difficult decision, since safety is a consideration. Deciding to repair or replace damaged equipment depends on factors like the water level and the amount of time exposed to water. For more information about repairing versus replacing water damaged appliances, visit the following resources: After a Weather Emergency: Repair or Replace Appliances? : https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/2013/09/after-weather-emergency-repair-or-replace-appliances - Flood-Damaged Appliances: https://www.fema.gov/news-release/2011/09/20/flood-damaged-appliances-hvac-may-have-be-replaced - If you determine you need service, please schedule an appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service at GEAppliances.com/service or call 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737) - Keep in touch!
