I was told it is for diagnostics, to be used by technician. It’s not something the user should operate.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I read that it is the interface for a technician to diagnose problems. Sort of like the OBD port in a car.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not a tech, but I can only imagine that it is for a repair tech to hook up and diagnose errors with the machine since there is no screen that can read out an error

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Cathy - Thanks for asking! Most current appliances have a data port (like an RJ jack or Ethernet port) that allows the appliance to be tested or serviced more easily. This port is used by GE Appliances factory technicians to plug in their diagnostic equipment when needed. Servicing your appliance may require the use of the onboard data port for diagnostics. This gives our service technicians the ability to quickly diagnose any issues with your appliance and helps us improve our products by providing us with information on your appliance. You may see flashing or blinking lights coming from the data port area. This is normal and is part of the diagnostic system. We're glad to have you in the family! Enjoy- Sue
