It is not frost free. I couldn't find a frost free chest freezer. GE manual, Page 5: "In most climates, defrosting will be necessary only about twice a year.To have your freezer operate most efficiently, do not permit more than 1/2" (13 mm) of frost to accumulate on the shelves." http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60702-3.pdf
