• I'm sure technically you should, we did not and all is working fine. This unit has a great cool down option while you are cooking then you can resume cooking.

• Hi-this is Sue from GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest! Wall ovens are not equipped to be vented to the outside. The vent is below the door to keep electronics cooler, improve appearance, and provide a better door seal at the top. Thanks for checking with us!
