If the odor resembles a sewer smell and cleaning the washer has nor resolved it, the source can be the household drain rather that the unit itself. We recommend pulling the washer away from the wall and removing the washing machine hose from the permanent standpipe. If the smell worsens, that's likely where the problem lies. This can be resolved by pouring a white vinegar and baking soda solution into the drainpipe.
