• No. It makes ice and as it thaws the machine recycles the water making new.

• The plastic bin does not keep the ice frozen, so the ice will eventually start to melt. Thawed ice is then recirculated back into the reservoir. Since the machine refills with fresh ice as needed, there is not a need to transfer the ice to a freezer. Lauren@GEAppliances
