“When we opened our dishwasher yesterday with all factory packing/tape in place we found a fair amount of water inside and the paperwork was damp. Why would water come inside the new dishwasher?”

Every dishwasher is tested for leaking before being packed for shipment; therefore, the dishwasher may have a small amount of water in the tub when it reaches the home.
