Hi LGC, thank you for your question. No, the add-on is only used for a 3-way application that allows you to control one light from two separate locations. Model 6068003 is an ON/OFF only. You will 2 of the SKU: 6068018 primary dimmer switches, one for your Kitchen and one for your living room. Make sure your current light fixtures are dimmable. Although the switch will work with any light the dimmable switches require that the light bulbs are dimmable

If you want to be able to dim the lights in your kitchen, you will need an additional in-wall switch like you are using for your living room.

It simply allows you to ad it to account for a three way switch (one you can operate from light switch locations). If you want to dim the lights, you need to buy the dimmer switch and then also purchase an add on IF you have a three way.
