I have a three way light that I turn on or off from two different switches. Would I have to replace both switches,if I use the GE model 12723 ? null

12723 is not a standalone switch. It is only for three and four way scenarios. You must use a standalone switch (there are many to choose from) at the main switch and every additional switch will be one of these. Instead of a paddle add-on there is also a toggle add-on switch if you don't like paddles.

Yes, you would have to replace both switches. One replacement switch would handle the load and turn on/off the light. I believe GE has two switches and two dimmers now for this. The second add-on switch (this product) would just trigger the primary switch. It cannot carry load and the primary switches only work alone or with an add-on switch. They don't work with another primary switch or a conventional three way or four way switch.

Yes. You have to replace the main switch and then put an "add-on switch" for the other switch. The add- on switch is about half on the cost of the main switch.

You have to replace one light switch with model 12722 and one light switch with the aux switch 12723. 12722 is a master, and the aux switch connects to it.

Yes. You will have to replace both. You need a primary smart switch. If you're using Zwave technology then it'll be either 12724 (dimmer) or 12722 (non dimming switch) to control the light. Then you use the add-on switch in your question 12723 for the secondary location(s) for three or four way operations. 12723 by itself won't be any good.

Yes you would need to replace both, but one would be a master switch and the other would be a slave. The slave is only $20 i believe. You then also have to run your travel wires through your neutral, but the switch comes with clear instructions.
