No. The system is supposed to switch you automatically between different wifi devices, but all of them will be under one ID. You will have one ID for your network, regardless of how many of these devices you have.

No, it is the same network. Your devices will automatically jump to the nearest wifi access point without you having to do anything. I had the same issue with weak spots in my house and the Google Wifi mesh network solved it.

If you buy the 3 pack it should solve your problem, just download the Google WiFi app and place one of them in that area, another in the living room and connect one to your main router through the Ethernet port, the app will help you and you can when need it send more signal to that specific area that has the trouble, the app is really simple and explains the process with easy.

Actually, YES, you do create another different WiFi SSID from your MAIN router. However, you can name it the same as your router SSID, but doing so could cause issues with your device having to differentiate between the 2 networks since that's how it sees them. Even in the SSID/PW match, it will constantly be looking at the two and can actually cause your battery to die quicker.

Having said that, if you use the Google WiFi device, it's better to name it something else (or name it what your main router is - but then rename your main router to something secondary - OR turn it off), and then you'll roam between devices like you would in a wireless LTE network. So the answer is technically YES and NO. The SSID "should" be something different from your main router though if you want better performance and less battery stress of your devices.

This WiFi system has different channels for your system if thats what you mean, the main difference you will notice with this is coverage this is a mesh network meaning it chooses the fastest most reliable route and if one access point goes out it switches you over to the other one rather than one way in and one way out as you current router may have. If you connect this directly to your modem it will replace your Wifi ID that you created. If you have a router/modem combo then you will create a new network so you will have two networks( existing network plus Google Wifi network). Wireless range extenders halve your bandwidth while Google Wifi access points do not. Use directly with modem to solve your double networking problem. Otherwise you may need to put one of your routers in bridge mode which essentially destroys your routers features and simply makes it into an expensive device that extends the range of your Wifi like your range extender that you mentioned earlier.
